Welcome everyone, my name is Ayla! I'm so excited you're here! I started The Honey Bee (formally Drop of Joy Catering) as a hobby because making and creating food is one of my favorite things in the world. Just cooking one day a week while simultaneously working as a personal care assistant, I made the exciting decision to jump into this full time when the pandemic hit as I began to get more and more requests for meal deliveries when restaurants suddenly closed.
Why the honey bee? Much of our food in its raw form requires pollination by bees which in turn affects our entire food system, making them absolutely essential for us to eat. I found it only fitting to show recognition of their importance.
I hand-pick every ingredient that goes into the dishes I create, ensuring the highest quality, freshness and nutrition so you know you are getting the best food possible that also tastes delicious. I also partner with local farms and businesses in the greater Burlington area to get seasonal goodies to incorporate into dishes as much as possible. I look forward to cooking for you soon!
